What happens to my videos if I stop paying?

You get a window to renew, upgrade, update your payment method, or download all of your videos with one click — 7 days on the First Year Free tier, and 10 days on the paid tiers (Keepsake, Milestones, Heirloom) with a reminder every day. If none of that happens by the end of the window, your videos are permanently deleted and your account is closed for privacy. There is no read-only mode on any plan — we don't keep dormant archives on our servers.

What happens when my free year ends?

Your First Year Free account converts automatically to $0.99/month on the 12-month anniversary of your signup. Continuing requires a payment method, so we remind you well in advance: at 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day before conversion by email and in-app, plus a persistent banner in your Vault starting at month 11 with one-click links to add a card or download all your videos. If the 12-month mark passes without a payment method, a 7-day grace period begins with daily reminders. If no payment method is added by the end of that window, your videos are permanently deleted and the account is closed. On Keepsake, Milestones, and Heirloom the same rule applies with a 10-day window and daily reminders — no plan has a passive read-only fallback.

How does Rinpil know when to deliver a video after someone's passing?

We never trust a single signal. Passing-triggered messages are held until a group of trusted contacts you named yourself confirms, and even then there's a silent grace period during which you (or you through a contact) can cancel if something was in error. Only after both steps does the message go out.

Is my content private — who can see my videos?

Accepted Answer

Only you, until the moment you chose. Every recording is encrypted at rest, and delivery is scoped to the single recipient you named. We don't watch your videos, we don't share them, and there's no shared feed or public gallery.

Can I edit or delete a video after I've recorded it?

Accepted Answer

Yes — at any time before delivery. You can update the title, the recipient, the delivery trigger, or replace the recording entirely. You can also delete a recording, but we always ask you to confirm first, because these are irreplaceable.

What happens if a recipient's contact info changes?

Accepted Answer

Open their card in Recipients and update it. Any messages already assigned to them will use the updated address at delivery time — nothing to re-schedule.

Can I cancel anytime?

Canceling ends billing at the close of your current period and opens a window in which you can renew, upgrade, update your payment method, or download all of your videos with one click — 7 days on First Year Free, 10 days on the paid tiers with a daily reminder. At the end of the window, if no active subscription is in place, your videos are permanently deleted and your account is closed for privacy. There is no read-only tier that quietly holds an unpaid archive.

What if I don't want to convert to a paid plan and don't want my videos deleted either?

Keep an active subscription. Any paid tier — Keepsake, Milestones, or Heirloom — keeps your archive intact and deliverable. If you don't want to pay, download your videos during the window (7 days on Free, 10 days on paid); after that they're deleted and the account is closed. We deliberately don't offer an indefinite dormant/read-only state for solely the privacy of the account holder.

What if I want to walk away completely — can I just delete everything?

Yes. From Account you can permanently delete your account at any time, which removes your profile, recordings, recipients, trusted contacts, reminders, and scheduled deliveries from our systems. It's irreversible, so we ask you to confirm.
